YOUNG, GIFTED, AND BLACK

To be Young, gifted, and black, a slogan that’s my reality. A slogan that protects my trajectory. Being 16, the age between a boy and a man. The age that shows that my life has to curate a plan. To be young means I have to get things done. To be young means I have to excel in being gifted. Gifted in creativity. Gifted in building a legacy. Gifted on not letting nothing stop me from becoming who I’m meant to be. Gifted in being Black. I’m Black and Proud. I’ll chant that phrase nice and loud. Being a black teenage boy isn’t for the weak. I am at the age where teenage boys have died from the police. I am at the age where people can misread me, but I won’t let that stop me from reaching my destiny. I come from a lineage of culture, creativity and legacy. I am stepping into who I am destined to be. I can’t afford to fail. I can’t afford to slack. My Name is Jeremiah Womack and I am young, gifted and black.
